Hello my name is Susie Butler and I would like to welcome you to Susie’s Little Treasures.
I live with my husband Jonathan, daughter Olivia born in 2009 and our three Labradors Gizmo, Penny and Sulley in Knaphill, Woking. I love gardening, swimming, going to the theatre, listening to podcasts and binge watching a good tv series. As a family we enjoy dog walks, trips around the UK and abroad, dining out, seeing family and friends.
I have worked within the childcare sector since 2003 and have been childminding for over 10 years, I love what I do and it gives me such joy to watch the children learn and grow.
I provide a safe, home from home nurturing and stimulating environment for children of all ages, from babies to school-age. I follow the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework and offer a wide range of activities to support children's learning and development. I work closely with parents and carers to ensure that each child's individual needs are met.
About the setting
My family and I live in a lovely house near to the village, schools (Knaphill schools), Brookwood Country Park, Sheets heath and Basingstoke Canal all with in walking distance.
The children will have use of the following areas:
Playroom/kitchen diner- There are a wide range of toys for the different ages of children in my care, table and chairs for arts, crafts and eating, a good book selection for the various ages. I also decorate my ceiling to different themes and rotate these alongside some themed toys.
Lounge- After school children are allowed to use the lounge if aged 7 and above. Children are able to use the Nintendo switches (with parents permission) with games such as Minecraft and Mario kart. All games are age appropriate. Older children can also watch age appropriate tv shows or movies. Children can also ask for the smaller Lego or colouring activities. I can still see and hear the older children from the playroom.
Bathroom- I have a small downstairs bathroom with toilet and sink. I provide a step stool for smaller children and my toilet is fitted with a magnetic smaller seat which the children can use when toilet training. I provide one-time use flannels for the children to dry their hands on and these get washed daily.
Porch/cloakroom- Here the children have storage shelves and boxes to keep their bags and belongings, I also have coat hooks and a shoe rack to promote independence.
Garden- The children will have lots of time to play outside in the garden when they choose playing games and exploring in a secure, safe environment. We use the garden all year round as I have astro-turf which means no mud. I have a wide range of outdoor equipment from ride ons, a slide, ball pit, construction equipment, mud kitchen/potion lab, painting easel. The garden has good shade in the summer and I also have a pop up gazebo.
